Unit expands digital evidence support to three additional counties

The Major Case Unit has extended its digital evidence processing agreement to three additional partner counties. Under the agreement, partner agencies may refer devices, account records and imagery for processing by the Unit's Digital Evidence section. Referrals are made through the agency portal; turnaround targets are published to partner agencies.
Cold case review program: 2025 summary published

The Unit has published the 2025 summary of its cold case review program. During the year, 41 cases were reviewed at the request of partner agencies, 7 were reopened for active investigation and 2 were cleared. Families may request a review through the agency that handled the original case.
Reminder to the public regarding evidence images and social media
July 16, 2026
The Unit reminds recipients of official correspondence that evidence images provided in the course of an investigation remain the property of the Unit and of the agency of jurisdiction. They must not be published, forwarded or altered. Doing so may compromise an investigation and may constitute an offense.
